Vision & History

Vision: To enrich the lives of women through the game of golf.

Mission: Connecting women of all abilities to learn, play and enjoy golf.

On July 10, 1991, Nancy Oliver founded the Executive Women’s Golf League, inspired by a clinic she organized for 28 businesswomen at Emerald Dunes Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida. Initially created to support her own journey of learning the game as a businesswoman in the golf industry, the clinic quickly revealed a much greater need - and word spread.

The organization became a powerful force in women’s golf by providing:

  • A welcoming environment where women could learn and play with confidence
  • Opportunities to build friendships and a lasting sense of community
  • Access to networking and greater inclusion on the golf course

In 2018, the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) joined the LPGA family to further advance the growth of women’s golf and expand playing opportunities. Today, the LPGA Amateur Golf Association serves as the recreational arm of the LPGA, continuing this legacy of connection, empowerment, and meaningful impact through the game.

LPGA Amateurs Chapters are volunteer-run, led by passionate members dedicated to enriching the lives of women through golf - just like our founder, Nancy Oliver. Our highest leadership honor, the Nancy Oliver – Act Like a Founder Award, recognizes individuals who embody the spirit and commitment of Nancy and the 13 LPGA Tour Founders.

Over the years, LPGA Amateurs has impacted hundreds of thousands of lives through the dedication, leadership, and passion of its members and volunteers.
